Angle-iron Post Extenders

A deer fence extender for angle-iron posts

Our 4-foot angle-iron post extenders can be used to make a fence taller. Each of these sturdy extenders is similar in horizontal cross-section to our 9 and 10 foot angle-iron posts, and each comes with 2 nuts, bolts, and washers for attaching it to a 9 or 10 footer. By adding this extender, your angle-iron posts can go 3 or more feet into the ground and still stand plenty tall enough to support deer fencing with an effective working height of up to 10 feet. However, it is not recommended that polypropylene or hexagrid deer fencing be attached above the deer fence's normal height. Rather, 11-gauge nylon monofilaments should be hung and tightened using zip-lock ties, circular wire tensioners, and monofilament line terminators. These zip-lock ties should be strung through the holes in the angle-iron posts, arranging things so that there is a 4 to 6-inch space between each pair of lines. In this way the deer fence's effective height can be raised to 3 feet.

Round Post Extenders

We have a small number of extender arms (item 15-04A) much like the arms that carry barbed wire above chain link fences. When "armed" with 3 runs of 11-gauge monofilament line secured with zip-lock ties, these extenders will reliably prevent deer from jumping over your fence. Please note that these arms are on clearance and that we only have a small number left.
