DEER FENCE GATES: INTRODUCTION
Why Do I Need a Gate?
Deer are notorious for edging around a deer fence until they find some opening that will let them in. So rather than leaving openings, it pays to complete your deer fence with one or more gates.
Gate Sizes and Types
We offer access gates 3 to 7 feet wide, 1-leaf (one door) driveway gates 8 to 14 feet wide, and 2-leaf driveway gates 8 to 16 feet wide.
Regarding height, we recommend our 7-foot tall gates (both access and driveway gates) for deer fences 7 and 7.5 feet tall. We don't normally recommend 6 or 8 foot tall deer fences, but for those who have or want them we offer gates 6 and 8 feet tall.
Gates and Anchors
If the side of your fence where a gate goes is fairly long (60 feet or more) it's a good idea to get two earth anchors with the gate (see product 16-12).
For those who like their driveways open but want to keep deer out and can afford the price, we offer deer grates. These massive structures fit flush into a driveway excavation a foot deep, come in widths of 10 to 20 feet, and work by presenting the deer with spaced pipes atop a cavity that the deer don't like to cross.
ACCESS GATES 3 TO 7 FEET WIDE
All of our access gates are easily assembled and come with everything you need--including an outer support frame and picture-based installation instructions. The only item not included is fencing material for the gate door, which should be cut from the material being used to build your fence and attached by means of attachment ties provided with the gate. For wider gates select Driveway Gates (1 leaf) or Driveway Gates (2 leaf) in the first menu above.
