About Our Kits

Fence Kits

Our 100-foot to 330-foot deer fence kits provide a wide array of gardens and small orchards with suitable protection against deer. We offer six kits, three using Standard grade polypropylene fencing and the other three featuring metal hexagrid fencing (see Kit Comments). The finished height of all these fences is 7 feet, which is all one needs to repel deer. The expected life of the polypropylene fencing is 10-15 years, while that of the metal hex is roughly 30 years. For more information about these products see Deer Fence Rolls.

If you have a small seasonal garden and wish to take the fence down in winter, get kit 19-01B. This kit features sleeves that its round posts fit into, making it possible to remove the posts and fencing in the off-season. We don’t recommend that you seasonally remove more than about 100 feet of any deer fence, because the removal and re-installation are time-consuming, and rolling and unrolling the fencing can detract from its effective life. However, if your planned fence is short, kit 19-01B can provide a useful and affordable alternative to a deer fence that stays up all year.

In choosing between a polypropylene and metal hexagrid kit, note that the two have roughly the same low level of visibility. The polypropylene fence is less expensive. However, the metal hex fencing can take more punishment, lasts longer, and cannot be holed by rabbits or woodchucks (see Comments).

The kits listed in the table below do not include a gate. You can make your own gate, or you can set up one of ours (see Accessories). If you make your own, we recommend using pressure-treated 4 x 4 posts as support posts and pressure-treated 2 x 4s to construct the gate door.
