Outdoor Cat FENCES: INTRODUCTION TO OUR KITS

Which Kit is Right for You?

We have a good selection: Standard kits with 6 posts per hundred feet, kits with extra posts (8 posts per hundred feet), snow protection kits to deal with snow loads, and conversion kits to keep cats from climbing walls or other fences--plus a gate section and a catalog selling kit parts separately . If you know what you want, use this menu to reach that section. Otherwise, browse the brief text below the menu to find what's right for you.

How to Choose:

  • LENGTH: Our kits come in 100, 150, 200, and 300-foot lengths. Measure your planned enclosure to find the length you need. If you fence will be over 300 feet long you can combine two or more kits.

  • HEIGHT: We offer 6 and 7.5-foot kits. The 6-foot kits work well; but their extender arms bend down, bringing the inner fringe of fencing to about 5.5 feet. If you think your cat might jump that high, or if you dislike the idea of going through a somewhat lower gate door, get a 7.5-footer. Please note: Our cat fences with snow protection come only in the 6-foot height.

  • SNOW: If your area has heavy snow get a kit with snow protection--or plan to remove snow after each major storm to prevent a snow and ice accumulation from repeated storms.

  • POST SPACING: Put less than 20 feet between each pair of posts. Place one post (actually an assembly consisting of a sleeve, post, extender arm, and cap) at each corner, end, and gate, and distribute the rest evenly. If you need more posts than the Standard Kits offer, get one of our Kits with Extra Posts or purchase additional post assemblies (CF-PST-ASM-6 or CF-PST-ASM-7.5).

  • EXISTING WALLS AND FENCES: To cat-proof an existing wall or a fence at least 5 feet tall, get one or more of our cat fence conversion kits. If you don't have heavy snow or gate openings to deal with, get an Economy Conversion Kit with 6 extender arms per hundred feet. If you need more extender arms, get a Deluxe Conversion Kit that comes with about 12 extender arms per hundred feet or purchase more extender arms and end caps separately. Be sure your cats cannot get under your existing fence.

  • GATES: Our affordably priced gates come as kits for both 6 and 7.5-foot cat fences, in widths of 3 to 7 feet. They include good pictorial instructions and can be assembled quickly.
